With the Olympics officially starting on the 27th July 2012 I have been surprised at how little property industry news has been released relating to the Games. The most light hearted this week being that of a women in Leytonstone East London who is hiring out her shed along with Union Jack duvet for £40 per night, with the only relevant statistics released being of how the 14 postal districts closest to the main stadium have seen above average growth since the Games were announced in 2005 rising 33% in value compared to the national average of 24%.
From an industry perspective this is usually the time of year where buyers go on holiday and many vendors that haven’t sold over the spring remove their home from the market then wait for September to arrive when they re-launch.
At Elite Property Search we have found this time of year a time of opportunity for buyers who are pro-active and for sellers who are serious about selling and who have priced correctly and presented their property well with deals taking place over the summer months for the past few years.
So if you are wanting to buy and are thinking of holding off starting until after the summer don’t - now is a great time to potentially pick up a good deal from properties that have not sold during Spring and whose sellers want to move on. It is also a great time to gather market intelligence putting you in pole position and allowing you to make a quick and informed decision when the post holiday market starts mid-September.
A buying agency is ideal to prepare this information for you and to advise accordingly so why not speak to one about your search which will allow you to enjoy the Olympics and your summer break whilst they do the "leg work" on your behalf.
